FAQ
What is Dichroic Glass?

Dichroic Glass is a multi layer coating placed on glass by using a highly technical vacuum depostion process that was originally developed by NASA.  Quartz Crystal and Metal oxides are vaporized in a vacuum chamber and then condenses on the surface of the glass in a crystal structure. This coating is a controlled process that creates a gemstone like coating on the glass, that is vibrant and colourfull.  The main characteristic of Dichroic Glass is that it has two separate colors (a transmitted color and a different reflective color) that shift depending on the angle of view and sometimes even the type of light it is viewed under.  This can make it challenging to show it's charm in photographs.  The play of light combines with it's lively colors making Dichroic Glass a favorite tool for artists to add flair to their projects.

What is Metal Clay?

Metal clay, (Some trade names are PMC or Art Clay Silver) is a revolutionary new material that is changing the jewelry world.  Microscopic particles of silver are mixed with a moist binder to creat a material that has the feel and working properties of clay.  It looks and acts like clay, but is instead a versatile clay -like material that you can work using simple tools.  Objects are easily given shape, texture and character by the artist.  The objects are then heated to the point that the particles fuse together to make a dense, fully metallic object, the organic binders  and water burn out and the result is 99.9%  fine silver.

14kt Gold Filled Wire:

Gold Filled metal is made by permanently bonding a layer of 14kt Gold to an alloy/base metal core.  The only thing that comes in contact with your skin is 14kt Gold.  You should NOT confuse this process with gold plating because Gold Filled has 100 times the amount of 14kt Gold than gold plating.  It is strong, durable, and resistant to tarnish.  It will not flake off  as plating can.  Many antique pieces, especially watches, are made from 14kt Gold Filled metal.  In order to carry the label "Gold Filled", it must be at least 1/20th (by weight) 14kt Gold.  The result is a product that looks and wears like 14kt Gold but is much more affordable.
